Objectives

Students will be introduced to Afrofuturism and how it is being used in art.

Students will learn what a monologue is and write one of their own.

Students will think critically about the future and what a future society could look like.

Essential Questions 

How can we imagine a future thriving society for African Americans and use this as a catalyst for artistic writing?

Socio-Emotional Learning 

Watch this video on the power of writing monologues for socio-emotional benefit.

 Students will explore Afrofuturism concepts and apply them to create monologues imagining their futures. This is a lesson that should be spread out over two class periods.
