Between The World And Me

Between the World and Me Graphic

The inaugural project from the Apollo stage for Apollo Stories is Between the World and Me.

Written in 2015 by author Ta-Nehisi Coates as a letter to his teenage son, Between the World and Me weaves some of the most pressing questions about America’s history and ideals with the most intimate concerns of a father for his son. The ideas presented by Coates resonate as strongly today as ever.

The Apollo worked directly with Coates to create both a staged version, and a series that ran on HBO. We utilize media from these productions in the project.

Our Stories team has identified three critical themes from the text: Race, The Black Body, and The American Dream.

All the lessons, activities, and workshops featured here were created by our Apollo Stories Fellows to help educators and young people give voice to their own understanding and experiences of these issues.
